THE TASK: Early in 2022, the Lost Villages Brewery put out a call on social media looking for local artists to commission illustrations for their new beer labels. I was happy to find out that even before I saw the post online many people had put forth my name for the project. As a result the brewery offered me the opportunity to illustrate and design their labels.
To date I’ve designed five labels for the brewery – Mille Roches Pale Ale, The Red Lion Red Amber IPA, Aultsville Burns Hazy IPA, Powerhouse Session IPA and Singing Barber Blueberry Cream Ale. Each label tells a story that connects back to the history of the Lost Villages and well as some of my own history. These lost communities which once thrived along the St. Lawrence River in Ontario Canada. I was able to apply my own illustration style and added value with my layout and branding skills to design the LVB labels in a consistent and contemporary way. It was special as the project is linked to my personal family history which is connected to the Lost Villages and with my hometown of Long Sault, Ontario. I think this is one of my most meaningful projects to date and hope you like it.
